THE ILLUSIONIST (L’ILLUSIONNISTE) (English, without subtitles, but mainly wordless)

Chomet’s follow-up to Belleville Rendezvous is a delightful, almost wordless animation, based on a previously unmade script by French film icon Jacques Tati. Magician Tatishcheff travels from his native France to the wilds of Scotland, where he and his feral rabbit befriend a young girl, Alice. As the gigs on the Scottish island dry up, Tatischeff travels to Edinburgh in search of employment, and Alice runs away to join him in the big city..
